Back in the studio this time of year always feels the same, the glass is cold but the flowers I purchased say differently.
Something’s coming, it’s waiting for us somewhere.
It promises, but still I hold my breath.
Is it too good to be true?
And please let me grow tomatoes another year and set them on the sill; let it come full circle again while I pray in paint, a clench in my jaw. Please let everything be okay. I stand here painting these stems looking like ribbons not wanting to ever look away.
