A still life, or "nature morte" as the French know it, usually involve inanimate objects such as fruit, flowers, and other household items. The earliest known were created by the Egyptians in 15th century BCE. The still life is popular across all art movements, cultures and periods. I am in a very long line of still life painters and this still life is  "Single Gourd." On this day back in October in my studio, I delighted in finding it's colors of khakis and creams, dark velvet greens and it's luscious strokes of gold. It stands proudly alone here in it's undeniable beauty.
